Seems to me that you're that grumpy neighbour in this thread, Bob, maybe step back and give Gav some slack, after all he's just asking for some helpful advice, not all of us can live in such an awsome place as you

    Now Gav

Seeing as the council has not yet had a look at your place and you are cleaning the place up, I can't see this going any further, especially concidering this has only been a tempory thing and is cleaned up every time.

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

In my local town here just up the road there is a very, very unsightly and unkept house which people have been complaining to council about for years and nothing has happened.
Are you sure it is unkept and not unkempt?

    Cheers, Mick.
    Good idea.
I'll bring a few over, Gav. A 101, a Perentie and a Viscount Van for starters. Maybe a Merc and a 1 ton cargo trailer as well.
If there is room left, I'll bring ..................

    Unkempt, unkept

Unkept and unkempt share the broad definition neglected or not properly maintained, but unkempt is usually reserved for describing a person's rough appearance. The word is derived from the older unkembed, meaning uncombed, and is most appropriate (etymologically considered) in reference to disordered hair.
Unkept, meanwhile, tends to describe neglected properties. Of course, it can also mean simply not kept (usually in reference to promises). Our Microsoft Word spell check catches unkept, but it's a perfectly good word.
This unkept?unkempt distinction is not a rule, however. Unkempt is often used to describe untrimmed lawns and hedges, for example. Unkept is only rarely used to describe people, but we did find a few instances in our searches.
And, in case anyone is wondering, kempt is indeed a word meaning tidily kept or neatly combed. We assumed the word was obsolete, but, in searching, we actually found a few examples of kempt used in current news publications. It's usually part of the phrasal adjectives ill-kempt and well-kempt.

You need more to do Ron.

Wow ... this is hilarious ... I've tried to count several times in my head now how many ... um, "garden ornamnets" I have in my yard, but keep loosing count...

    I'm upto:
    3.5 trailers
    1 caravan
16 cars ... I think The bastard things breed and move around when I'm not looking

If the neighbours complained I'd take to, um, "testing" the engines in the ones without exhausts at 3:00am each night

this thread has gone astray a bit, an englander lesson even.

in all honesty the council get hundreds of these each week and unofficially regard them as a pain in the back side. if the bylaws are followed then so what. your neighbour can complain all they want, nothing is going to happen. people who winge to the council are not going to damage a car etc etc and if there is any criminal activity just call the cops and give them copies of your council letters.'

at the very most complain about his dog barking at night but even that is childish, stand still in the storm and just cover your ass. i doubt he is going to change and nor are you so it is what it is. if you do any thing to him he is just going to get more bitter and twisted. you do not want to spend your nights thinking about what he is going to do or what you are going to do nor do you want him spending his nights thinking about what he can do or worrying about what you are going to do.

so what i am saying is be a man, show nothing and do nothing and that way you win.
