Hi,
Brady has a few places named after him, I think there are at least two lookouts ( one north of Launceston on the west bank of the river), and a cave overlooking Kingston in the south.
One of the harbour ferries was also named Matthew Brady.
Not sure why the HEC named the lake after him, it is part of the hydro water management scheme.
The waterflow from Binney to Bradys is steep and short, with gates close to the top of the main descent. This makes it a brilliant kayak slalom course with grade 4 water, but it can be shut off quickly if needed.
A lot of the trees and camping area were developed for a major whitewater event in the early 70s.
We have been camping there over the years since then.
Cheers
