The choices are limited. Do you notice when the viscous coupling engages?

I suppose the corollary of this question is how many people use high range with the CDL locked (150 kph) 8O ?

I only use CD when the terrain demands it, most tracks dont need it, i generally use LR, and engage CD when on steep climbs or slipery ground. Alot of the time I use LR simply to reduce the amount the vehicle gets thown around on rough tracks, and negotiating obsticales that require precise wheel placement. Matt

i use low range quite a bit off road.....i lock the CD on extreme tracks.....and once while dragging a heavy trailer up a steep slippery dirt track in low i had to lock the CD.

i use low range to idle in traffic jams and crawl along slowly...
and the usual manouvering trailers around to save the clutch....

one other place is my cousins steep and very narrow driveway...i use low to reverse up again to save the clutch.

I use low/unlock quite frequently for the same reasons as most, manoeuvring a trailer around (especially reversing).

I also use high/locked for travelling at speed (well, speed in terms of a Tdi  ) on made gravel roads. It's not needed for traction, but improves the handling/safety no end, especially over corrugations.
