    Hi All,

I mainly use LR unlocked for the usual trailer reversing etc or uphill reversing etc, have also used in the traffic when crawling along especially with the fenders, not an issue with the auto.

Offroad, it gets locked as soon as practical,(low or high) makes life so much easier, plus the benifits of smoother ride and grip.

Remember the size of the LRover center diff compared to the axel ones, it wont survive alot of constant overwork in the bush, as soon as it is broken loose surface mine gets locked in.

    Glen.

This is pretty much the gist of what the teacher said on the 4wd introductory course I attended (as passenger in a Forrester). As soon as practicable, part time 4wd vehicles (eg 78 series) should engage 4wd and LR products engage CDL.

Rule of thumb I use is that if the wheels are going/likely to slip the I lock the CD.

Yeah the reversing thing and with traction control don't need to lock in CDL most of the time.
    Cheers Baz.
