Things to see in Perth?

I'll concur with Craig, Pinnacles are worth a visit.

Fremantle, the maritime museam and the submarine tour are good, as is the old jail tour at fremantle.

Fish & Chips at the harbour restaurant precinct are good too.

Perth Zoo, well they used to have a Land Rover with Zebra stripes on it near the canteen for the kids to play on, but that's gone [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img] and while the walkways are green and fancy, the animal enclosures weren't so green or fancy when I was there last. If Mrs Vlad is one to feel sorry for animals who have less grass to walk on than the humans, then maybe avoid the zoo. Though having said that, their Rhino enclosure is great 8O

Are you hiring a car?

If you're staying in the city, a walk through Kings park is picturesque.

Have you had you vaccinations?

I'd say you could stay on my yacht in Freo harbour, but it will still be up in the mediterranean that time of year. Too bad, because you & Mrs Vlad would have enjoyed the chefs cuisine, I just hired Iron Chef Japanese for the next two seasons. You would have loved the mini-sub on the dive wrecks too.

Have to agree with most replies, Fremantle is a must see, Kings Park is a must see, great views of the City from up there. Check out the Whispering Wall if it's still there.

Craig is spot on about the Pinnicales,but left a little detail out.You just got to do it via Lancelin and return,but you would need to bring Doris along to do that [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img] [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]
Done that trip a few times in my first Landy,a 2A holden powered 88"(there is actually a pic in my gallery I think).When I used to live up that way.
Its magnificent country,especially when you fish for dinner and camp out.

G'day Vlad,
as you're visit is brief and in the winter months, the weather could influence what you can do. Are you hiring a car? If so Bayswater hire cars are good value, the only drawback, they are not located at the airport, however they are only a short taxi drive away.
Fremantle is certainly worth a visit, places like Little Creatures Brewery, The Sail and Anchor Pub/Brewery, Fish and Chips at the Fisherman's Wharf and the Maritime Museum are just a few worthy of a visit.
Rottnest will be ok weather permitting. If you have transport, Margaret River and the surrounding vineyards are @270klms south of Perth. There are many to choose from and there is nothing like lunch and a quaff at a winery.
Vlad, we live in Mandurah 87klms south of Perth (also worth a visit) and you can go through Mandurah on the way to Margaret River. If you decide to venture south there is always a spare bedroom available and you are most welcome. BBQ,beer and red wine springs to mind!

I should have been a bit clearer regarding the Pinnacles. I meant maybe a bus day tour from Perth. The Perth visitor centre should be able to help. Just dont get on with the bus company that rolled their bus coming out a week or so ago with 18 people on board.

I thought that maybe a few drinks and a nice cheap Indian meal might go down nicely. Any Perth people keen :?:

You MUST take Mrs Vlad to Magret River!!!
Approx 3 hrs drive South of Perth, a "do-able" day trip, great coastline, wine, gormet restuarants (great brewery "bootleg brewery" also a good lunch stop) and if you venture as far south on the vasse hwy as Karridale you can see a genuine ex-camel trophy Disco!
On the way south you can stop @ Bunbury where wild dolphins visit the shore of koombana bay (get there around 8:00am) and thats free. Busselton, approx 52 kays south of Bunbury has an under water observatory at the end, well worth a look in this cold weather (no divin').
Historic York is just over and hours drive east of Perth, many antique shops and a vintage car museum (no Landies).
Pinnacles trip is an easy drive North of Perth but a tour coach (pref 4WD) will allow you to see more.
Really, it depends on what kinda stuff you like doin'!
