My mate from Redcliffe was inundated for the first time ever. His house was regularly surrounded by a moat, but never before has it flooded. Flood plains north and south of his house have been raised two metres or more and developed for housing.
By the time he realised the house was going under, the water outside was neck deep. He called the SES and spent over half an hour on hold, meanwhile the water was still rising so he hung up and called the fire brigade. The firies said they'd be there ASAP. They haven't got there yet.
His three year old XR6 is also a write-off.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
That sux Ian....
Hope not too many here got inundated.....

Well today it is sunnyAnd the river is rising slowly. It shouldn't get as high as our last flood, maybe only minor level. Our wheelie bin got washed away last night, I found it 8 foot up a tree in the creek
Oh and there is a Land Cruiser floating around down the road, you would think people would pay attention to the flood markers wouldn't you. Lots of tourists around, must have never seen a river flood before.

We had enough rain yesterday to over fill a bucket my wife placed in the middle of back yard ( catching water for ferns)
Also the electric locks on my Falcon Ute got moisture in them , after unlocking the vehicle this morning then every time I locked it would just unlock again. Just finished pulling the locks out & put them in a tub of metho to dry them out . All working OK now.
Emergency services were in the same boat (haha) as everyone else.
Most of our members got stuck on the roads or cut off from base. When we didmget a few together, it was too dangerous to go out. 95% of jobs logged yesterday dont need help today. Now the house clean outs start.
'Swiftwater' teams had no boat and no qualified operators, yet we all did what we could...
Cheers, BDave.
