I was watching sunrise this morning on channel 7, the host made the comment that he spoke to a lot of journalists that are over there covering the case. When they were questioned about whether they thought she was innocent or guilty, (off the record) every one said guilty. As he said, they've seen all the evidence, they know it inside out. All we've seen is what the Australian press wanted us to see. Who are we to say whether she's innocent or guilty, really, what do we know about the case? We know what the press of this country wants us to know, poor miss Corby, but what really is the truth?
Is it as she (a person facing a possible death sentence) says that she opened her bag willingly and without hesitation, surprised to se 5kg's of pot sitting there? Or as the Indonesian customs guy (a trusted government official) says, she was asked to open the bag and became agitated and nervous, not wanting to open it.
How can we sit there and condemn another countries system without knowing the facts, and as John Howard said himself, how would we feel if some other countries govenment tried to interfere with our system if we were trying a foriegn citizen in our courts?
And they wonder why we dont trust them
