    Funny thing is if you compare stats between the UK, USA, Australia and Canada, it rates between 3-5% for all four countries, so that sounds about right.
    It's the sudden stopping from speed that kills , mames.
    The rapid deceleration of your brain inside your skull, that rips it and smashes it around.

    With the general direction the populous is moving - this should mean that many simply walk away unharmed...

    I voted for much higher penalties, lots more cameras and for cops, particularly in the Riverina, to be sent on traffic duties with a 30" push bike.
    I won't be venturing into SA anytime soon.

    2012

    Rural South Australian roads accounted for 18% of all crashes, but 66% of fatal crashes.

    Of the drivers and passengers killed in 2012, 34% were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash;

    22% of the all drivers and motorcycle riders who were killed had a blood alcohol concentration over 0.05g/100ml. Of those known
    tested that were seriously injured 17% had a BAC over 0.05. All male casualties were almost over 3 times more likely to be over the
    limit compared to females.

    I think there is no one answer . Keep making laws , is not the answer , but can help . Better roads , less trees , less fatigue , less alcohol drugs , age , condition of vehicle . The list goes on and on you could write and dozen books , and It wouldn't stop people dieing ! There is one answer , but It is totally unacceptable and that would be to become like stone age people , How many of them died in road accidents ? Jim

    A lot less than those that couldn't outrun the big angry critters I suspect.
    In percentage terms.
