I was lucky enough to buy my Disco from a straight up type who was happy to undertake works for RWC on a gentleman's agreement. I even bought him some nice beer to thank him for being unusually decent to deal with for someone selling a car. I feel your plight - I have been rooted around selling things too. That kind of thing bites balls.

BTW, we currently have a German Shepherd x Kelpie, but the Girlie wants a Jack Russell to slow him down a bit. (I think I understand how that works)

My final words to him were
"You have until midday Tuesday (tommorrow). After that the car will be traded on the LR"

So if the full $11,800 comes up. Fantastic. If not it goes to the Wholesalers.

Fukk Him i say......

Ray, love to take your offer up, i might even get pleasure out of it.... but due to "reasons" i cant at this stage.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha ................................ Bank...

I wish...
(for those cryptic ones)

As for the big story i wrote.... my love of writing allows me to express and entertain my self to others....

You should see some of the crap i write....

Ohh the Zorassano Theory.... its my Theory..... Hard to explain....
Like the Big bang Theory but more of a Penny banger...

But we already had the dog, had to buy the Disco for him to ride in :!:

Ahh, buying a car.......
My father instilled a methodology in me that has so far worked and caused me little grief.

1. Pay cash (usually PRE Approved loan in my case)
2. Know the red book values of both (trade and prospect)
3. Research the prospect thoroughly so you know what you are looking at
4. Go back as many times as you please for another look BUT do not mention money or 'deals',
5. Make a decision away from the car yard with just family or wife or what ever
6. Then make the salesperson work hard. Tell them straight up what you are offering for an all up, on roads included Changeover price. Cash (or bank cheque), today, right now!
7. Walk away if they cannot oblige.

This method has worked for me many a time and my dad who runs a business and has many 4X4s

PS
Although something about it gives me heartburn, search the papers for deceased estates, often they are willing to offload the deceased grey nomads 4x4 or caravan or volvo for less than it is worth. Same rules apply though....
Bought a house this way once, worked a treat, saved $000's

Regards
Ralph

Steve,

I can't help you with selling the Saab but I know what you feel like right now. I sold my last rally car (16 years ago) to a guy in the series that I was running in at the time and he gave me a $1000 deposit but had me hanging for more than a month while he dicked around with finances. I eventually gave up waiting and sold it to someone else who came along saw the car and bought it on the spot.

Worse part about it was I had to give the deposit back to the d#$khead who wanted to sue me for selling the car to someone else - go figure how long he wanted me to wait  ??

I'm sure it will work out better than you expect.

Chris
