    8) ok i didn't read all of the replies, but i fixed the steering wheel noise byputting a can of wd40 down the engine bay and squirting it up into the steering column where it disappears into the cabin
poof the noise is gone, followed the wd with oil, messy to apply as you have to guess where its going and let it drip out.

Garry, thanks for that - although it means stripping the lining off the inside of the driver's door again, and the fittings and lining never like too much handling before it all turns to poop.

You say the Jaycar one is under powered. I do recall that even in reverse it needed some help. Are there other ones around that have more push that you know of or do they all come from the same place?

I'll be spending some shed time this weekend so I'll have another poke around.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Mike -I know what you mean about the door trim - I think mine is now held on by the armrest and speakers screws only.

The jaycar is strong enough - just - but only when everything works perfectly. Sorry can't help with an alternative as I got mine working after a lot of mcking around and didn't look further and I have now replaced the entire system so everything is compatible. I just don't think the pulse system of the Landrover system is compatible with the pulse system for the jaycar - my crude workaround might be the only option unless someone else has a suggestion. I must say that the Dick smith/Jaycar alternative which costs about $40 - $60 fits straight in and works well - can now unlock the car completely from the passenger's door as well!!

    Good luck

My noise is the rubber at the bottom of the steering column where it meets the fire wall. have to look into it.
