After reading over the thread I agree that there has been less landie bashing by the magzine's of late. However this is because Landrover Australian have spent big money promoting the D3 & RRS ( have you seen the full back page adds ) in almost all these mags recently. Who ever said money makes the world go round sure got it right.

I just hope Landrover has put a little more effort into build quality in the D3 & RRS only time will tell. So we don't have the usual idiots landie bashing in the next few years.

On that subject any of you guy's with a D3 or RRS had any issues other than the faulty air compressors?

It is! I was really surprised to hear about and see that. They took some pics and did an article about 8 months ago, which was all published in the previous edition. I guess they had some spare photos they still had to use.

The old girls a little different these days though. Here are some pics I took today. She ships to Cape York on Friday.

are you really doing the cape with alloy rims?
it's a lot easier to get a steel one fixed to drive on in the bush than the alloys.
hope you have a great time and remember, soft tyres and high speed do not mix. just because it's dirt, it doesn't mean your tyres have to "bag", on a hard dirt road.
they'll get hot and your plies will delaminate causing tyre failure. seen it before, the only guy who got punctures on our simpson trip took 2 full spares and ran his tyres at 34psi. got 10 punctures and destroyed 2 of the tyres. everyone else ran 45psi.
his weren't rated for the weight he was carrying, their max pressure was 36psi, we were all on bfg muddies but ours were a tad thinner and had a higher load rating.
look after andy, we need him to do some demos at the expo.

Thanks Barney, I'll look after Andy. Thats if his sorry drunken hide functions after after the nights before.

It should be a good trip, and the 4WD's are being trucked to Cairns so we don't have to endure the Simexs for the drive up or back. The alloys have been good though, they're what I run on the TT's etc and so far so good, but I hope I haven't just stuffed myself by saying that. Going against the norm, the alloys are pretty easy to come across, where the steelies are pretty rare, except for the procomps which are offset a bit. We're running the Simex's, expecting the tracks to be really ordinary after the cyclone, so any traction when can get we'll take.

i think you guys will be pretty right, it's just the unexpected that you have to be prepared for.
as long as you don't do anything really stupid and then follow it up with something even more stupid (a-la-cory), things will go swimmingly!
