you heard of The CMCA RV Parks initiative ?

    from

    News

    have a read of

    The CMCA RV Parks initiative

The criteria for CMCA RV Friendly Towns specifically focus on 24/48 hour parking (essential) and longer term parking (desirable) for self-contained vehicles. Therefore, converting camping grounds in RV Friendly Towns into CMCA RV Parks should not inconvenience any CMCA members with self-contained vehicles already using these facilities.
I can't believe small town councils with an iq above 5 would be so short sighted as to get involved in this sort of craziness

this would surely have major implications for smaller towns offering free camping areas as less than 10% of travelers are part of this organisation...

i find it amazing to say the least....

If I understand the CMCA-- They are leasing/buying property to house their members,, but to make it easier/cheaper no fluid hits the ground, therefore no plumbing is required. I'm not sure what the "campervan" section of the club thinks about it,, but the Motorhome owners probably dont care,,,
I think Australia as a whole underestimates the power/influence the CMCA has,,

I've happily been a CMCA member for about 12 years. Their primary focus from my perspective has been to preserve access to free camping in the face of much and varied opposition. Ironically they cover RVs/campervans and 5th wheelers but not caravans. With over 50K members and an active presence in all states, they are IMHO a positive force for travellers generally. They also concentrate on expanding the grey/black water dump spots, as well as coming from the other end with a "LEAVE NO TRACE" audited procedure which has been well received generally by pollies and many councils. Some caravan park owners don't like them at all and can't comprehend that there are and should be horses for courses for all kinds of travellers - and I'm not talking about backpackers working and living on the riverbank, or the odd idiot who thinks the country is his/her personal cesspool.

I wonder if that's because you do a "U" turn behind them, and then chase them down the main street of little country towns with your headlights flashing at them.
    Cheers .........
