I dont let my 6 darlings out to free range,they live in an orchard and I grow extra vegies to give them in exchange for bum nuts.The ferals next door have 2 roosters,illegal in town and they free range.Caught one in the vegie patch last week,it went me,I had a broom stick.It still lives but aint been back.After the set too it was running around bragging to its hens for ten mins.Not seen him since

The ear tags are hard to read.

When I was quite young we all used to collect eartags .....and swap them. Some were very hard to get and fetched a good swap.
Fortunately my mates father was a shearing contractor and we could get heaps and he would get some of the harder to get ones for us.
We used to wear the best ones on our belt and rest we would weave in long extended blocks.

You were pretty good if you had a one metre length of ear tags.

I always have problems fitting ear tags to chooks.

Ours are let out daily for a scratch.on the backyard, which includes a small orchard. It has tall dog proof fences.
Three chooks are clucky at the moment but we're working on reminding them to earn their keep.

Nice to see rain in the centre, including the Simpson and from Birdsville to Innimincka, and Lake Eyre filling with water. They certainly need it out there.

I recently heard a rumour Apple might return to making Ipod classics due to a great many annoyed potential customers that would prefer them to the newer, more expensive and smaller gb ones. I hope this is true.
