Photos or videos taken on phones are hardly ever taken for broadcast on the evening news. And if something newsworthy suddenly happens near you, most of us would have a phone with us and very very few would have a tv quality camera to hand.
You may just have to put up with phone quality images sometimes. Better than not having the footage.
And compare phone quality video on some of the better phones these days compared to just a few years ago. It’s improving all the time.
I have a very good Nikon D7100, on our recent Canada trip I’ll be honest, it did take by far the better photos, but most of the photos were still taken on the iPhone cos that’s what we always had to hand.
Photos (especially with the younger generation)are also taken for sharing. And taking them with your phone and being able to immediately share to Instagram or whatever is very appealing.
Personally if I could afford one I’d love a Sony RX 100 v. Something small that can still take a brilliant shot. Great to have in the pocket for a holiday.
But the phone camera is here to stay and I think camera sales will continue to decline.
