I personally think that the plastic cool drink bottles are the "Ducks Nuts".
They don't shatter like glass, they can be burnt which saves heaps of space/weight in the rubbish bag and you can fill them with water to freeze as ice blocks, You can't do this with glass bottles.
You can also reuse them as floats for your crab pots.
