I went to the beach for work this week. No-one drowned or got bitten by a shark either. I even managed a coffee from the fifth-ranked coffee shop on the Gold Coast. Life is good.

I wish all the news was like that.

Just got home from Melbourne - first time up the Newell for several years. Harvest is well under way, but suspended in parts of the Riverina because of the fire danger. Looks like a good harvest though.

Is there anyone else on here that writes with fountain pens? I enjoy the simple art of handwriting, and I have been using fountain pens for many years. It seems there is a resurgence in fountain pen use, and there are still many manufacturers that produce fountain pens.
Surely I can't be the only person who enjoys retro handwriting in this age of electronics?
I have dabbled with a cheap Parker. But I gave up when I kept punching holes thru the paper, and geting streaks and broken lines.
Plus I ended up looking like Grimace after a short period of time.
Current pocket pen is one of these:
Or one of these if I feel like using a pencil (I use 0.7mm HB- less snappy)

Yes. I don't have as much time to do it as I used to but I love it.I'd get an Italic nib and grind the top edge of the nib down to the bottom with an oil stone, until it was really sharp, like a chisel. It is a great way to improve your writing.
I used to write reams of utter drivel, much as I do here, just to watch the ink flow off the nib.
Cheers, Billy.

Speaking of drivel, try saying this fast:
Roger Rabbit really loves long runs round lengthy rural racetracks.
