Sorry to hear the bad news. You do get attached to them. I wonder why it is that different animals have different life spans???

We have birds in our family too.
The personalities are so unique and endearing. Unless you have had the privilege of sharing their life it is a bond and companionship often underestimated.
I'm sure her antics and moments shared will bring you a smile and probably a tear in the future.

My mate Gordon has one, it is very noisey +++ but he is always worried what the neighbours are saying about 'Cocky', Gordon would be devastated if something happened to him, I think from memory he has been with Gordon now for almost a quarter of a century, always sad to lose a pet, cheers Dennis

A bloke I worked with once got one from his Grandmother when she died,no one else wanted it,he hated it at first but now would not part with it. Pat

yeah it was a good old bird..had a good life, the cage door was always open ..never cut her wings .just hung around the back yard. had the run of my lilac tree and shed. knew when it was on a good thing never flew away.bought it inside every night for the last 40 years and every night it would nip me..my son use to say your crazy..definitely a 1 person pet..very devoted animal. and they remember everything.

I must tell ya about 1 funny story I had with the cocky, I also drive a old zook sierra with a cage on the back for the dogs, put her in the back, decided to take the cocky for a drive in the bush took her up to John forrest national park near Perth. big sign no pets allowed..And the ranger stopped me after I was in.and said don't let her out. ..very ironic I thought , no cockys allowed in the bush..lol

Not sure how long corellas live, some animals have a vary long life must be something in the way there built..dogs 15 years ..cats the same . some old major mitchell's I think have seen 100

I've had to line up the kids for the future with our Major.
He's only 9 and if he hangs around as long as expected he'll be with the grandkids long after we're gone.
