Thread: Out of a Defender into a space ship!!

(from me thats a compliment, unlike them flash cars where they get on the radio and talk about there "HDC (which I assume is "Hot decaff coffee" and their "TC which I think is "thai cappachino" buttons..)

I really hated it, I am sure in a day or two all the buttons would become obvious and anyone would be able to work it out. I cant help feeling though with the discovery of each new button a piece of you soul would be lost.
I have to admit that the economy is amazing at 20 odd km/l, but what a souless lifeless car!!
Not to mention if a warning light came on and you were out of town in that thing you are in big trouble.

I like my Defender because it allows me to use at least four of my five senses, whereas some of these 'modern' cars have it down to two and sometimes one.

It's five when I taste a spot of fluid and say yep! that's brake fluid.

I had one of them as a loaner here. In summer and had the reverse, the air con was only OK, the car was like an oven to get into. Found myself rushing to get out of it. May be good in a cold climate or winter. I commented on this at the dealer, how the Defender was much nicer to get into in this weather.

Defender as the perfect Land Roving vehicle and a new spaceship as the perfect space roving vehicle, what a dream that would be!

Problem is that the new 'spaceships' currently available to the majority of us are merely road going vehicles and must endure the vagaries of the planets surface; yet they are attempting to smooth it all out to the point whereby the occupants are all but removed from the experience. In order to achieve this space-like weightlessness, these vehicles are becoming more and more lightweight, which is the perfect characteristic for a space going vehicle, but not necessarily the best option in terms of the rugged durability required for real world earthliness.

Given that I live on earth, and that it is the diversity of the earths terrain that is its most interesting feature, I am very happy in my Defender. I too enjoy the fulfilment of all of my 5 senses, including taste! ...The full appreciation of the design classic that is the Land Rover Defender requires above all, great taste. ...Cheers to all Defender connoisseurs.

Gimmickitis, originally invented by Microsoft to compete against WordPerfect, and refined to the extent you can now get heated cup holders in a 4WD that does not like to get dirty .
