I'm hearing you Digger, we also went to Cosco when it first opened and the prices were keener.
We're both very conscious of the origin of our food. Any edibles that we buy from foreign climes are either not available locally (anchove etc.), or a treat. We refuse to eat any foods from third world countries, China or India.
IGA (Supa) is the preferred supermarket, their prices are in the zone, each store is locally owned and the umbrella is Queensland owned.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

as far as substitutes are concerned we used to have to eat fake bacon when I lived in the middle east, but in truth....

It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Bacon? I can take it or leave it. It wouldn't worry me if I never ate it again.

Came home to discover the freezer contained not a single slice of bacon. Muttered a lot and added it to the shopping list. Grrr!

I can take it or take it. As long as I get some on a Saturday morning for breakfast, the earths orbit will remain stable and the world won't end.

But back to the OP - I refuse to shop somewhere that charges you before you even walk in the shop. A yearly fee to shop at a store is BS IMO. You can keep and shove this store right where it fits. I shop at my local Foodworks where all the profits stay in my town where the owner lives, and who I know as he stacks the shelves along side his workers and buys in anything special I want.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

I watched Landline a couple of weeks ago & they had a segment on Australian Pork: Australian Pork | The producer owned organisation supporting & promoting the Australian Pork Industry

So I only buy pork or bacon with the Australian Pork Red Square. Does taste good, just pop a Lipitor every day which I have for the past 20 years & my cholesterol is good. Bacon, bacon, bacon.
