Hi Andrew, I too had back issues since an accident in 1977 when I fractured the 5th vertebrae whilst on holiday in Tenerife - just after the 2 747's PanAm & KLM collided on the runway. The bone fracture was not the problem but the unknown at the time damage to ruptured discs on L4/5 & the sacral discs was. Did not find the real problem until 1st MRI in 1989, & then the prognosis was grim & recommended fusions. Luckily the corp I worked for would not give me the sick leave, so I muddled on in lots of pain for 17 years since the original accident until I had the the facet joint blocks at SJOG in Subi, that was 1995 & since no problem. Still stiff in the back but no surgical intervention, and no pain - I think the bits & bobs of disc material sharing space with the spinal cord have degenerated & been absorbed. So just walk/swim lots, & my advice stay away from the orthopaedic surgeons. Oh and drink lots of red wine![]()
