Dicky ABS wheel sensor

    Well Richard, you were right!

I have a stuffed rear wheel ABS sensor which no doubt was affecting the operation of my TC the other weekend! (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

Waiting for Kevin to get one in so I can have it replaced. This morning the TC started cutting in for no reason while driving on the road so I have pulled the fuse. 8O

Looks like the first year of my extended warranty is paid for already.

Remember....... next trip all will be easier, you won't have to pedal as hard!!

Did you try pulling the sensor out, cleaning the area around it and refitting? Just an off chance but who knows? I know that Disco sensors work themselves out of position and are affected by dirt.

They are also effected by any abnormal movement of the toothed ring. This will increase the airgap to the point where the sensor doesn't generate the correct voltage.

I replaced both CV's in my Disco to fix this, and the clickety clack ( slop made the airgap too big ) but one of the new Paddocks CV's appears slightly out of round so the sensor touches the teeth in one half ( to start with ) but has an airgap at the other half which increases with use.

I'd check the rear bearings first.

The test for the WABCO sensor in the Disco is there should be atleast .2 volts AC produced at 30rpm or 1/2 rev per second, measured at the two wires coming from the sensor. There should also be 900-2000ohm resistance across the wires.

I would hope that the Rovertech guys would have tried that (it was in for a service last week and they diagnosed the fault).

Won't cost me anything to get it fixed.
