Anything that happens to be burning at the time

If not an open fire, A 3 burner gas stove. I always try and use cast iron pans and pots with the taste of a thousand meals caked in it

Hey Baz,
If you're carrying that cappuccino maker out to Birdsville, beware I'll smell the beans and track you down

a portable capuccino maker.....thats roughing it....

as for the peugeot salt and pepper mills...where do you find them?
they are the rolls royce of mills/grinders....

i take the $20 single burner with the disposable cartridges and a frypan...
i also have a grill thats made for the single burner to cook the steaks and snags on, and the billy also goes with me....
if the wife and kids come along i have a pot as well so she can cook the pasta for the fussy eaters.....

for all those with camp ovens....can an upturned oven sitting on the coals
work as a hotplate....or even the lid for that matter?
it should be big enough for a steak and a couple of snags....

no one has owned up to a 12volt microwave yet....

but i will own up to a 12volt oven i have.....great for pies and sausage rolls...or chicken pieces or any other frozen pre cooked food....
and even better for heating up last nights leftovers.....

I also have a 3 burner gas stove, a single burner disposable gas container type, a camp oven, good old frying pan, makes the best steak... never leave home without it, it's cast iron and the handle comes off for packing.

I recently bought a Dream Pot. Yes I camp often with the wife and kids, who prefer mum's cooking ops:
It's a bit like a crock pot. You put the meal together, cook it for 10 minutes or so and then place it in this thermal lined outer pot, close the lid and it cooks over the next 3 hours or up to 6 hours. Great for camping, you set it up over lunch, go out for a drive, walk, fishing or whatever, then when you get back to camp dinner's cooked!

Must get one of those tripods though, they sound like a next have.

Cooking is pretty simple, always take a 2 burner low press LPG stove although it is rarely used, preferring to cook over open fire.

Fire gear consists of BBQ plate 2 pieces of star picket and a billy pole.

how many of you go on club trips and try to cook on a fire only to find that everyone keeps building it up till you cant get within 3 metres of it, let alone trying to cook on it.....

some people dont know the difference between a camp fire and a bon fire....
or maybe the city folk of today are fascinated by the fact wood burns?
