    90 or swb defender body onto disco 1 chassis

    Hi guys and gals,
    I was considering something different as i adore the 90 and defender though i have rock solid drivetrain on my disco. Now has anybody done it in australia and if so what is the legal side to put a defender body onto a early (200tdi disco) chassis???
    Reasons for this are as follows:
    1. Disco is amazing BUT body has a couple of serious rust spots and kinda worn interior
    2. Adore the defender/90 and would love to restore it to my own custom spec
    3. improve departure angles for 90/defender
    4. Lighter defender body should make 200tdi sing
    Let me know what you think, this is just a preliminary ideas moment as other option is sell the disco (minus the goodies) which i wont get much for and buy a defender/110?

    There have been a few done. Have a search for 100".

    Here are a couple of 100" Landrovers


    You'll need to get a VASS engineer on board.

    90 onto d1 would be pointless, drivetrain swap is a bolt in though.

    but with a 90 body on a 100 inch chassis id have amazing departure angles

    And a 90 all ready has that but only in 90"
    Are you lacking somewhere else maybe

    There have been several that have used 110 2door wagon bodies and cut out the 10 inches to suit. From what I've read it's usually between the rear wheel arch and front door.
    There's a vid of a 100 in on a rrc chassis. A 4x4 is born.

    It could be cheaper using an old 110 body cut to size rather than a far harder to find in oz 90 body which could also be more expensive.
