Due to the fact that I probably didnt read this part of the manual and that my sales rep that sold me the disco probably didnt know, I found an interesting feature on my Disco today. Now I am probably a little slow and everyone is going to come back saying that they knew this already but I found out that if you hold down the lock button on your key, it will activate the headlights, neat trick. At first I thought flamin british electrics so I proceeded to check the other series 2 sitting in my yard and the same thing happened so after that deduction I figured it was intentional. 8)
It is actually quite handy

they had something similar on the saabs...it was called "follow me home" mode.....
it turned on the headlights to give you a chance to find your keys and the keyhole after you pulled up at home in the dark.....
In the D3 you can set (by the user) to turn the head lights on after you turn off the ignition for 30 sec up to 240 sec and it is still called "follow me home lights". In addition the user can program the "Landrover" button on the key to turn the head lights on for 30 to 240sec when near the vehicle.
I guess the improvement is that you get to know about these features because there are so many things to play with that you have to read the manual now.

Hi DiscoTDI, I’ve had the RR for nearly 3 years and I’ve read the manual from time to time when I have needed to know something but p38arover sent me a video from the USA and based on the US models but I still learnt more from the DVD than I had picked up out of the manual.
I think supplying a DVD with operating and service details would be a great way to not only educate the owner but would also help to promote the vehicle to others.![]()
Just an idea, cheers

My '86 RR came with an audio cassette detailing the vehicle controls. Especially useful for the heater controls!
The P38A has headlight delay as well. If you turn the headlights off after turning the ignition off, the headlights go into delay mode.
The headlights don't come on with the lock button, only the interior lights.
If you only want side marker lights on on one side, either left or right, that's possible by moving the blinker switch left or right and then turning on the parkers. That halves the current draw.

The problem is these days is that a sales rep can be like a teacher for example where they move around from yard to yard and only stay at the one for so long. Not many of them spend enough time at the yard to know what they are selling, or when a new model comes out staff arent briefed well enough about the new models goodies and features etc. Better staff training would alleviate this problem.
