    My new Defender's lucky escape!!

Last day at the shooting comp in Brisbane, someone on the camp ground more than a little drunk decided to move his car so that in the morning it would be easier to hitch up... BANG!! as he reverses into a tree and smashes his rear window, then he decides he is going forward right for my new Defender The missus leaps out and stops him just before he hit it.
Even if it is not on the road cant people stay out of cars when drunk, even on a camp site there are kids. Next door is a yound disabled girl, it could so easily have been her hit not the tree!!!

We came second for a few points in the team shoot due to a rifle malfunction costing us 6 points but we were against teams from all the states and New Zealand and to come second but a tiny margine to the members of the worlds team I am happy. In the individuals (the Queens) against the best FTR shooters in Aus I came 9th out of 40, so again I am happy. My rifle though was playing up and each day I had elevation in my shots. The first day it cost me 5 points and 6 the second. Someone told me to try pasting my barrel (I have never done so I was worried). The last day my rifle elevation issues were gone but it was too late to catch up, but if I had worked it out sooner I would have been up there. Iam still very happy with my result against the best in the country and also in New Zealand though, these guys are amazing you shoot a 60 with 5 which anywhere else you win with and someone goes and shoots a 60 with 8!! It was actually just 3 of us battling for it and then my rifle started playing up which is a bit annoying.
Had fun though and I have been told to nominate for the world chamionships which I have done, I would love to shoot and represent Australia.

Firearms were locked away and it was after the presentations of one of the biggest comps in Aus for f class. Still bad form getting into a car drunk IMO. Drunk leave the car alone full stop even when off the road. If someone is drunk enough to hit a tree they can hit a person too.

In similar circumstances in this area a few years ago (not a shooting comp, but some sort of event) someone doing the same sort of thing ran over and killed a couple who were sleeping in a swag on the ground. As you say, it really could happen.

And herein lies part of the problem with perception among the public, in this context Chris is using a rifle, it's not a weapon. (imho)
