    Believability of some TV News Organizations...

    Found this gem today...

    Bizarre moment CNN anchors unsuccessfully try to pretend they are not in the same parking lot | Daily Mail Online

    Amazing what you can do with different angles and zoom-ratios...

    That's why News limited became News Corp. It was referred to as "If you want your news limited, go to News Limited". Now it's referred to as News Corpse.

    The best one though was the two Soviet era Russian National news agencies;

    Pravda which means truth and Izvestia, which means news.

    This led to the saying in Russia that there is no news in the truth and no truth in the news.

    Of course the 'bottom line' is propaganda by the incumbent government(s) and-or 'Interested Parties'.
    Public opinion can be directed / biased by judicious use of "facts"... for good(?) or Evil.

    Ed Bernays has been called 'The father of spin' (google it, wiki gives a good run-down on his achievements) and he was instrumental in the US war-effort in the sale of 'Liberty Bonds' and generally advertising the need for the US to enter a war on the other side of the globe.

    In recent times, facebook got caught out by their experiment in emotional manipulation, selectively altering news-feeds to individual persons accounts...and noting their (published) reactions...

    Turns out this might even have been illegal, though the chances of them being prosecueted are, well.....

    On a related vein, I've just finished reading a book by a Scottish GP titled 'Doctored Data", dealing with modern-day (and historical) data-manipulation of medical trials, conclusions and myths. - A book that's not for the faint-hearted.
    - Or ostriches.

    I think there is a reason why 'Alternatives' are becoming more popular, be it in Health, Agriculture, News-feeds,,,

    And search engines... GoodGopher.com - The search engine for independent news and information

    On a personal note:- When I worked at a Newspaper, we had our own road transport company, their prime task was newspaper delivery into the country areas. Schedules were, at times, optimistic and some drivers went above and beyond the call of duty...

    Funny, how their crashes were 'never' reported on, no matter how spectacular or serious... - understandable censorship of "News".

    You are right Superquag, "Doctoring Data" is a great book! If you want something along the same lines in an easily digestible quick video, watch Dr Ben Goldacre's TED talk below.
