    composite decking

I am about to replace the decking around my pool. I want to use the composite decking. What I like about it is the longevity and lack of maintenance and hidden fixings.

My question: is their any real difference between the brands. My builders supplier recommends Modwood - but it is about 3k more expensive than the cheaper OzTuff, and Reliaboard is in-between the two. My builder does not know if their is any difference and has a feeling that his supplier is pushing Modwood as that is what he stocks.

Any experience with any of these brands and are they all a much of a muchness?

I had a look at few types for cladding on a reno on my house and for decking. I asked the manufactures for building sites their products had been used. Yes there was a difference. Some showed clear signed of sun damage and needed maintenance. One looked poor on northern sides in less than a year up!

One I am using did not and cost better. Will look it up and get back to you asap.

Nope found it "composite timber is PermaTimber."

I looked at several brands. It took some time but do it as some need yearly maintenance in the fine print which in my opinion is silly as wood is cheaper and needs the same. Some were not great with termites which is an issue for me.

I haven't bought any yet, but I have done some research as I will be soon. Some do need maintenance, which defeats the point. Some have higher amounts of recycled timber (basically sawdust) in them which I don't like the idea of long term.

I'll have to find the samples I got from one company - their product was the best I found, but it was also the most expensive.

I'll see if I get a chance at work today to dig the info up.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    Decking

    Hi,
we built a 80sqm deck 12 months ago with decking from Cossett industries South Australia.
    View here:

    .
Very Happy 12 months on no problems. We used 140 mm wide boards they look great. Secret screw system installation really simple and quick.
Lots of brands out there I had herd and seen negative things about Modwood so didn't go that way. Very happy with ours.

    Ours is on this page:

    Cheers
