Plantar Fasciitus... great fun. I had it in both feet some years ago, caused by my own foolishness... trying to exercise the flab off, by fast, long-paced walking.
Treated it with ROK tape. applied in a cunning way... Basically, it gave (exterior) support which allowed the inflammation to resolve itself.

Wife's 'Kneecap subluxation' is being treated the same way by her local Physio.
    - Worth a try ?

Tendinitis and bursitis left hip for months and months.
Analgesics, antiinflammatories, massage etc no help.
Orthotics (Docpods) in my shoes helped a bit.
In desperation, ultrasound guided local anaesthetic and steroid injection - oh the relief!
Allowed me to get back in to physical activity again.

SWMBO has the same Andrew. That was part of the reason for our recent trip down to Perth - she had an ultrasound or something done at Bethesda Hospital in Claremont.

Doctors have told her much the same as you have been told. They have given her some sort of leg brace which she must wear for support of the ankle (dunno how long for), and she has also been told to wear decent, lace up footwear, like good quality runners or similar. NO THONGS.

I would probably advise her that losing a bit of weight might also help, but I don't want to die a painful death just yet.
    Cheers .........

I was on some tablets, some sort of anti-inflammatory, for tennis elbow (go figure, haven't played tennis for 20 years), and was told if it didn't come good, there was some sort of injection that would sort it out. Maybe some sort of steroid? Never got the shot, but elbow is for the most part better, just flares up every few months if I overexert it.

Managed to get some relief today.Plastered plenty of Voltaren 12hourly gel and Dencorub arthritis cream then bandaged it tightly.Spent the day watching the V8s with my leg up on a cushion,I can almost walk without a limp now

I meant no wearing the rubber thongs on your feet.

They didn't say anything about your leather ones.
