    Train Drivers

Beeping their horns and crossing roads

    (not serious)

probably not, the trains that I assume you refer to need a bit of oxygen to enable them to run

ok - I'll bite - what prompted your first comment ?

Camped near a rail crossing, did we ?

Okay... not sure what were the origins of this statement, but as an Intercity train driver I felt that I should respond.

In NSW, it is a part of our network procedures that we MUST have our headlights and ditch / visibility lights on when outside the metrop areas bound by Berowra to the North, Emu Plains to the West, Macarthur on the Main South and Waterfall on the Illawarra. Also we MUST sound our whistle (horn) on approach to all level crossings whether they have gates or not. This is not optional. It is not that we as train drivers purposefully want to annoy residents or persons around level crossings.

All operating passenger trains in NSW are fitted with Data Loggers similar to "Black Boxes" fitted to aircraft. If an incident were to occur at a level crossing, the data on the loggers would show whether the driver sounded the whistle prior to the crossing, among other information including the speed of the train, brake application etc. So we just do what we are required to do. The last thing ANY train driver wants is to be involved in an incident that results in a fatality.

Twas all tongue in cheek, following Ians' ****ing motorists thread. ****ing cyclists as well, I suppose there should be a land rover drivers one, but where does it end?

Essentially there are a lot of ****ing idiots in all pursuits, yes I sometimes make mistakes (rarely ), so please don't take anything on the interweb seriously, least of all this thread.

Thanks for the good job you do, and for the lift from CQ to the airport last week very smooth.

Maybe blackboxes should be on all new vehicles? It would probably only add approx $10 to the new cost?

P.S. I would really love to drive trains! An essential freight service we should be looking at in more detail to get those ****ing truck drivers off the road

Thanks Greatsouthernland. After I posted I noticed the ****ing truck drivers thread, so I guessed then that it was all tongue-in-cheek. If nothing else, my above post may give the readers of this thread a small insight to what we as train drivers do.

The trip from Circular Quay to the airport is driven by the suburban drivers. Complimenting their smooth driving skills will give them big heads.

And don't get me started on those truck drivers...

It was 'work'ing train drivers, but the filter seems to find the word 'work' offensive (nah, not really, sorry)

Other words that end with 'ing' ... List words ending with ing by frequency

Interesting fact - In 2009, the European Union's OHIM trade marks agency disallowed a German brewery to market a beer called "****ing Hell". They sued, and on 26 March 2010 got permission to market the beer. They claim that it is actually named after the Austrian village ****ing and the German term for light beer, hell (which is simply the word for "light in colour").[53] Wikipedia.

The word was used 569 times in the movie 'The wolf of wall street'.
