I Pulled The Pin Last Week Or Did I.

Well i`ve had a busy year at work this year starting with a top companion work mate passing away in April .
It has been a hell of work load upon my self since that day Any way they managed to hire this new guy 3 months ago with no experience
The busy season is well and truly upon us and believe me i have done some serious hours with this.
Now this new bloke 33 years old i was told was the best of a bad bunch .
Now never having experience in Heavy vehicle`s i had him in my truck for 2 days with some friendly tuition so after 2 days i give him the wheel Wow im thinking this guy is over cautious and i mean to the point it was extremly frustrating sitting next to him but i got it he had only ever drove one too got his licence.
This guy drives a Commy ute with the 5 poster bar aerials lights Are you getting the picture oh and the blue singetNot that im putting a label on the young bloke
Any way i cut him loose on his own after 2 weeks of baby sitting what was i thinking but i only acted apon the owner of the company saying he is a grown man (not)
Well ive had nothing but bull**** excuses from this guy for delays and holdups ect, I had previously warned him not to bull****
Anyway after numerous soft love talks from myself i had no choice but to involve the mrs office mannager only to be told after said meeting i was abit harsh So i wiped my hands of said person and handed all communication to the yard manager for some micro managing Mmmm guess what same old BS , My work load is just so hectic and im not feeling like this person is helping a great deal .
Im getting so many complaints from our customers re this guy no hi vis driving their f/lifts like a idiot and all i can do is pass it on to the yard manager.
Well last week said guy comes in on tuesday after having monday off saying he almost died over the weekend due to a allergic reaction to peanuts in food he mil gave him and is having back spasims and pulls this jar of pills out and shows me which states can not operate machinery.
So i say well your not driving this week The work load was crazy last week even with me doing a trip over night i still managed to complete all work required for the week on my own.
This over night trip when i returned to work i notice 2 others cleaning the toilets i jokingly say you the new cleaners oh no comes the comment we all are taking turns i dont think so i say well take it up with the owner they say cool off i go . In to the office i go and say whats this about cleaning toilets i say oh we are all doing it now i say not me if you told me that in the job discription i would not be here so there and then i give a weeks notice they refuse to except it, Out to my truck i go and call the owner only to get his PA ok so i send him a txt informing him i had given a weeks notice , I did get several missed call`s from the owner
So today both managers at work are saying we dont want you to leave mmm as tomorrow should be my last day there . I had a bit of a drive today which gave me some time to call the owner in Sydney who promptly informed me he would not except my resignation so i dumped on him about the pay rise i got in june which was half of the cpi and all the work i have taken on since the passing of our work mate also the mr 5 poster singlet wearing truck driver is not the right one for the job.
Too my suprise with plenty of praise to my efforts a resolution came forth and im staying and a certain other person will have work for someone else
The owner was aware of some things this guy had done but not all.
Now this toilet cleaning thing im not being sexist nor am i saying its a lower form of employment it is simply somerthing that i refuse to do and that is clean a public toilet i have cleaned my own toilet and will do if needed i will not clean a public toilet and put my job on the line for my beliefs.
Do you think i was silly for doing so or what

I think you did well taking your case up beyond management level.Sounds like Swift and Shift Couriers
We just got addressed by the Shire President. No more drinking at the depot after work.We just lost our CEO who was a great bloke,he purchased a tourist bussiness in town, new CEO starts next week. The council brought this in between CEOs,the outgoing CEO refused to ban drinking after work all the time he was here.
The boys are not happy. The ban only involves depot staff, they say the offices are a different story

If they want to pay me to clean the toilet, I'll clean the toilet, as long as I have the necessary qualifications and correct PPE.

What does a trainee truck driver pay? Will it keep me in a manner I wish to be accustomed.

You putting your hand up Mick? It'd save you a small fortune in commute fuel.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

No it won't. Heaps more time and a lot more fuel. Quite a bit through city traffic.
