Waeco Fridge

G'day All

I was looking at a Waeco 60 litre fridge at the Gosford 4wd show this weekend and was just wondering if anyone has had much experience with the Waeco brand of fridges either good bad or otherwise.

Thanks

John

I've got a Waeco CF18 (only 18 litre, but still with a proper danfoss compressor). Very happy with it. Plastic construction seems sturdy enough, runs quietly, keeps things cold. What more could you want!

Waecos have a 5 year warranty IIRC

Had mine (CF50) about 4 years, now going strong, although had a fault at around 2 years fixed, and hasn't missed a beat since.

Mate they are great. I have a waeco 110l that has had a very hard time in it's 2 years of life with out a problem & have just recently brought a 50l for day trips & to go in the boat as well.
I wouldn't buy anything else, people go on about how good engel's are but for the price of them they would want to get you a beer & open it, .

Why?
They are great products.
5years on Fridge, 3 years on compressor.
Engel only 3 years on everything.
Both have good and bad - for $$$ Waeco are ahead in specs/features.
Also less current draw.
In my experiance (Retail) only probs were the lid and light which are easy fixes.

Never had any MAJOR probs with either.

Waeco have some awsome 'Adventure Pack' deals as well.
Great customer service and the Reps are good as well, alawys very helpful - More servicing agents AFAIK.

Dave.

G'day All, without turning this thread into a Landrover VS j*p crap thing, but you all know what we say about j*p crap, my Engel fridge is over 30 years old it's a 29 litre and I wish I had $10 for every mile it has travelled, I also have an Engel 19 litre as well all running off aux batteries, only one fault with the 29 ltr it busted fuse holder in 1975 in outback SA when the main road out of Pt Augusta was a 2 wheeled track through the scrub not black top like today anyway thats my tuppence worth, not saying these others are not as durable but will they last the distance, like the early type Codan HF auto tune aerails that s**t themselves because they don't get enough use and guess what they cannot be repaired so fork out $1400 for the next generation auto tune aerial (which i did) hope it lasts longer than 12 years cheers Dennis
PS I suppose in some instances it will depend on swmbo ops: as to how much moolah swmbo will let you spend

I have two Engles a 32L old type and a 40L new type, although the weaco was better priced than the engle when I was the buying the 40L I went with engle because of the good service that the 32L has given me and I wanted to maximise space in the back of the defender.

I mate has the 60L weaco which he is happy with, he got a good price of the web, he has a Landcruiser trayback so space is not a problem, he has not brought the 240V adaptor so he does not turn his fridge on till he is about to drive off, loads all the cold stuff in and its pulls down to temp pretty quick, the fridge freezer setup works well.

I think they all run the same compressor these days so current draw will not be an issue.

We had the Waeco rep and tech director give a talk at the LROC a few months back - very interesting. Also a few mates have Waecos and are VERY happy with them. I'd buy with confidence.

You wouldn't go wrong buying either of these brands - they are quality units, well constructed and well backed-up. Probably comes down to the individual specs (like sizes etc) and what your precise requirements are.

Having said that - I'd definiutely buy one of those 2 brands - most of the others out there are rubbish. (I can't say all, but most seem to be).
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".
