    Jetskis and their idiot owners

Decided to spend New Year's Day with family and friends on my boat having a picnic in Pitwatter near Barrenjoey. There were about 20 boats all anchored up having a swim and generally a good time.

Then they arrived. About 6 or seven jetskis racing around between the boats and chucking donuts and jumping each other's wake. Some were close to kids in kayaks and stand up paddleboards.

I put up with this for about 1/2 an hour then thought enough is enough. I smiled at one guy close to my boat and motioned him to come over. When he came in I pointed out that maybe the boats up here having a quiet picnic did not particularly want to listen or watch them showing what a pack of imbeciles they were. There is the whole of Pitwatter and the Hawkesbury to ride without giving people the ****s.

This chap, who happened to be of middle eastern appearance then launched into a tyraid of abuse and swearing threatening to get 20 of his mates and come back and ride around my boat as well as yelling out it was his right to ride where ever he wanted.

I told him to get as many as he wants and I will just make a short call to the Water Police and have them waiting when they get back.

This is not the first time I have had words with jetski riders on the water while fishing, cutting across my bow when coming into the bar at Forster, pulling onto the boat ramp out of turn and riding close to the beach and swimmers.

The best thing ever was banning them from Sydney Harbour. I am sure they are fun to ride but is seems that the guys that ride them seem to think everyone else is interested in how cool they are so they have to ride next to you to show you. I am also afraid that all of the ones that I have had run ins with are middle eastern and have attitude to burn.

Anyway he or his mates did not come back and we had a very pleasant time for the rest of the day

And their not much better behind the wheel of a car either.
Cut off again today by some clown towing one.
Miles of duel lane hwy at their disposal, and for some reason they think they need to cut you off to get back to the left lane.

We have, or had, a nice quiet swimming spot on the Nepean River only a km or so from home. The water ranges from around 50cm to a metre or so & it's great for the kids. Unfortunately, it's now frequented by jetskiers who like to go up & down the river there so virtually no one swims in that section anymore. I certainly don't let my kids go in there while the ******* are doing their thing.

Apparently, there used to be signs banning the use but they used to get pulled down. Now the RMS & council don't seem to care.

The times I have tried to get onto the water police they ask for a rego number. This hard to get off a small craft doing 100klms throwing up spray.
Once at Huskisson on Jervis Bay there were two of the Habibis riding flat out no more than 30m from kids swimming on Xmas holidays. I called the police who turned up and got mouthful from the jetski riders and their family on the beach. They had a word and they packed up and left

I've had a jet ski in the past... great fun and I didn't ride it any differently to how I drive my ski boat, that is to say, I was fairly responsible.

These days we know them as "sea camels", largely because the waters are full of middle eastern guys riding them... LOL

The problem has gotten so bad that you can no longer launch them off the beach at Boat Harbour, or even drive them near the beach (an exclusion zone has been set up). This is because of irresponsible riders not keeping correct distances off etc. So they've ruined it for all of us.

PWC riders are now on high alert in the Hacking and George's rivers, and I expect they'll probably eventually get banned like in the Harbour. It's a shame for us responsible riders, but I no longer have one so the issue is moot to me. Might even drop back to just a boat license next renewal...

Sounds to me they were doing a tad more than five knots.

I believe there are speed and approach limits in relation to their use, so probably both by the sounds of it. At he end of the day, it is as simple as respect and consideration of others. It is a 2 way street off course but I have never heard of swimmers invading PWC turf.
