Someone here in Oz is buying series ones and sending them to the UK for restoration by Land Rover.
Prices expected to be around 60,000 quid.

Yep. They'll have a small niche business over there in Solihull. Mercedes have been doing that for some time. Cheque book restoration. I want to do that with one of my Mercs. Just waiting to win the lotto.
The quality will be high,......and so will the price.
Pickles.
For $60,000 quid a pop, surely they could build a line of brand new Series 1 Landies.
Yup! I believe that there are agents here that purchase from Evilbay, put said vehicles in a container, and off to UK,as our vehicles are dry,and because we don't salt our roads in winter most have clean chassis, they buy our outback vehicles dead or alive and pack them off, early Series 1 vehicles fetch a premium.
The Japanese do the same with Toyotas both sedans/wagons and Cruisers, all Vintage vehicles now,
cheers
Why ask Dinty?
I think if they took his to restore theyd dust it and sendit back "done!"

That may be the unfortunate result.
But then I suppose it depends if you are a buyer or seller.
