    sigh. miss my rangie...😕

    ... but the 110 is a great substitute!!!☺☺

The rangie in question was, for the few that remember or even saw it, a brooklands green 1992 Sherwood edition. Initially had a 4.8 stroker and 5 inches of lift 33's and active suspension. I transplanted a 4bd1 and turboed and fmic'd it. After destroying 3 4hp22 autoboxes i went to lt95 with the taper roller transfer case, a detroit locked salisbury in the rear and some decent springs and shocks ( LRA coils and DeCarbon shocks). After a second round of welding cracked bulkhead and floor and at least half of the other body mounts we decided a 110 would be the way to go to ensure many more years of tough touring. So all the running gear and suspension went into the donor rust free 110 county shell i acquired . I just loved the driving position and overall feel of the rangie. Nothing conpares however a 110 is just a different class of vehicle. A no nonsense no frills tough as rig.

I have been very lucky to have had 2 iconic vehicles and experience them in some amazing parts of this country in my lifetime ☺☺☺

Your rangie sounds like a beast. Insatiable appetite for engines and gearboxes though...
90/110/130 / defender / county forum is here FYI ;-)

In any case, welcome to the fold.

Ha Ha, you've been spoiled with the comfort of the Rangie JC but you will get used to the 110. As you say the toughness and no nonsense and NO electronics will grow on you.

Have a couple of reds and you will get over it mate. Once you get out and about in the 110 it will be forgotten.

See I'm the other way,I loved my D1,they are so easy to drive and I can't think of another vehicle as cheap to run as a post '96 Tdi auto, ditto the L322 Td6,that thing was a machine, you could sit on 120 all day and get 10/100,out the back of Newman in 45+ degree heat the A/C would keep a flock of penguins happy, the TDCi eats the earlier models in every way but it hasn't got that ''thing'' that makes it special, driving to uni today in my dented, transfer case leaking, worn out drivers seat, spider web on the passenger side dash but never stops Tdi defender to me it just has the ****.
