    Harvey Fires back on.

40degC + heatwave in Perth and the Harvey fires are back on.
We are 100km away and you can see the smoke plumes from here.
A fire started on private property in the area yesterday, and it seems a second started this afternoon in the area which they say is suspicious.
NOT GOOD,this heat wave is here until sat or sun.

There is no way it can get here. There is a huge area burnt out between us and the current fires during the Boddington fire.

One wonders if the Powers That Be have the foresight...after the hindsight from the Yarloop debacle... to 'invite' that DC-10 tanker to take a trip over here... You know, the one 'they' rejected because 'they' did'nt think... that it would have been as effective or spectacular as a handful of little aircraft buzzing around.

There was a lot of good reasons why it wasn't suitable, if you listen to the right people and not what the media wants you to hear..

One very good reason, there are limited places it can operate out of and those limited places simply havent got a water supply to fill it.
You cant beat the 2 helitacs we have, should have a heap more.Ive been at fires where they are only traveling a few hundred meters to a km from the fire front to fill out of farmers dams. They are bloody effective.AWESOME to watch in action too.

The fire that actually burnt Yarloop out re-started today, burning out of control in unburnt country. They say it was a smouldering tree that set it off.

Yarloop burnt at night, you can't use air support then. We get our big winds at night, that is when the Waroona (Yarloop) fire made its big initial run of 30km across to the coast.
