    Petrol and Diesel below $1

    Oil prices keep dropping, but the oil companies are slow on passing on the lower costs. I noticed to tday petrol and Diesel were under $1.
    Now low fuel prices is great news for motorists, but now it seems the low oil price is in danger of causing a global financial meltdown. Seems a lot of oil companies are in debt to the financial institutions in the tune of $billions in loans, so of the smaller companies are not worth anything as the debt makes them unviable.
    You would have thought that with low oil prices the things would also get cheaper, ie transport costs and the like. But no, it seems we have to have high oil prices which relates to higher fuel costs and every thing else just to keep the world from a global financial meltdown.
    Go figure

    The Major's as they like to be called have probably more political swing then any other of the Multi Nationals . Also think of governments that really on fuel excise to support there budgets ? I suppose we take fuel for granted . Look at how much people pay for a glass of beer , or a bottle of water compared to the same volume of fuel ? Jim ...

    not in Cairns, 122c/liter I saw this morning
    can go 60km or so to mareeba and it will be cheaper - further away - increase transport costs - how does that work?

    just a few minutes ago I got diesel from Caltex at $1.08 minus woolies discount.

    I think that's the cheapest it's been around here for some time.

    Well over here In NZ the diesel has been hovering between 92c and 96c since before Christmas.

    not worth the effort to ship the disco over to the folks but they say 88 cents per litre is the average , still winter there too !

    What happened to the world running out of oil by the year 2000 ?
    I remember in the late 1970s it was fact we would have run out of oil by early the next century.
    Just like 2YK..........all bull.
