I doubt the forestry guys would dump a wreck to close a track.
They would be more likely to install a gate. It is an offence to bypass a locked gate. I don't think moving a dumped car is.

There's already been 20 cars burnt in my area this year. I usually pass at least 2 different burnt out cars a month if I drive down the fire trails to work (whihc I do most days)

Quite a lot are modern cars with imobilisers. If they are being joy ridden, how are the kids getting them started without the keys ?

The only way I could steal a car built from the mid 90's onwards .......... Would be to break into the house first and steal the cars keys ...........

In most cases that is probably exactly what they do - or simply take cars whose drivers leave the keys in them. (It does happen - sometimes even by accident)

Don't assume its kids joyriding. Professional thieves have the gear to override anything. They may even tow the vehicle. Remember, they don't care if they damage it because they've been paid to make it disappear.

I went with some Bushfire Brigade people up and down firetrails in the Blue Mountains some of which were that rough and washed out you had to use lockers and/or get winched.

Down the back of nowhere down a very steep track was a late model Camry which had all the sills wrecked, dented and bent front and rear ends and it was partially burnt out.

The guys who got it to there should get a job teaching extreme driving.
