    Haha heard about this on the news this morning.

    RRS Boaty McBoatface leads in poll to name polar research vessel

    Sorry, no, it's not a Range Rover Sport.

    Other classic entries include: "Its Bloody Cold Here", "What Iceberg", "Captain Haddock", "Big Shipinnit", "Science!!!" and "Big Metal Floaty Thingy-thing".

    Anyone else got any good ideas?

    Luckily for the NERC, they have stated in the terms and conditions that the final name will be chosen by them and not just be the one with most votes. They obviously knew that the internet could not be trusted to be sensible.

    RRS Boat McBoatface would be a ****ing awesome name though!

    I submitted an entry: RRS Not Lost Just Exploring as I felt it expressed the mission of the vessel. I wonder what my prize will be.


    I also had a laugh at the following entries:
