Didn't see anything there your average Commodore or Falcon couldn't handle.......
Scary thing is some people will be convinced by this type of marketing, I wonder what Subaru would give as a trade in on my Defender.........

Time to get rid of those jacked up Volvos and get a real 4WD for capability.

Hey - don't be rude about Subarus! I just bought a new Outback
Apart from the ground clearance and well, ok, no low range they are pretty similar. Except that the Subie is quiet, and gets 5.2L/100 when cruising. And it's reliable. But no-one waves to you.
Actually, I have been pretty impressed with the Outback. 6-speed manual is very nice. Engine could do with a bit more poke (it is a 2.0L Diesel) but it's way quicker than my PUMA.
Complete lack of aftermarket offroad stuff though. No point trying to fit a bullbar or a snorkel really, but even if you did want this type of stuff it's not available.
Hehe i thought about linking this video with a thread title "whats better off road? A defender or subaru XV?"
Except the guy doing the voice over is super boring. Super. duper. boring.
Cheers

Test track is about as exciting as a woolies car park, dont know where he got his info from but no Defender has ever had independent suspension.

I think they missed the purpose of that test track.
High grip surface throughout, cambers on the corners... that there is a race track not a test track.
I wanna see the Stig piloting each vehicle flat bikkie round the track - oh I dunno lets say 20 laps each and see how poised and comfortable the subie is afterwards!

It such hard offroading, they appear to forget to engage the center diff lock in the defenderIt's the traction control that makes the suburu even slightly usable. Otherwise it would come to a screaming halt as soon as it lifts a wheel (which it did everywhere).
