I'll stand with you on the issue of freedom of expression but against you on the issue of protecting the innocence of Children.

Those two matters are not mutually exclusive.

"Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry his own weight, this is a frightening prospect." - Eleanor Roosevelt.

Responsibility being here - self limiting grand freedom so as to not offend. Children or otherwise.

    Hopefully relevant to the discussion:
I like to swear. I like it a lot.

I disagree with those who believe this represents a lack of imagination and linguistic paucity.

I fervently agree with Mark Twain - "Under certain circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer."

Out drinking with a mate, him trying to explain on the phone to his lady who he was drinking with. Eventually she twigs, "oh the fella that swears - a LOT".

I enjoy, I revel in, the freedom to express myself in the most colorful profanity in a lot of circumstances. But I understand the need to self limit my exercise of that delicious freedom in certain other circumstances. I am a responsible foul mouthed mother****er.

My kids have grown to be great members of this siciety which is more than i can say for myself. Its very hard waking up having panick attacks and anxiety after horrible dreams about what was instilled on me by the person whose job it was to protect me and my sister and add to that a very abusive father who once he started to belt into me found it difficult to stop. Yeah i had a great life as a child. You should try it, then ud be as stuffed up😠 as i am at times, all thanks to words from my mother. No worries eevo thanks for ur support and understanding.

I have not said anything on this Tread, but I have been watching it, Rod with great respect to you, have a look at the "Embarrassment Thread" in The Parking Lot and there you will find a Forum member by the name of Banjo who, it seems, has had a similiar childhood to yourself, read the first post which was made six years ago and it might help to know there are other people out there who also have had bad memories of childhood. The Thread is still running to this day.

ps. Banjo suffers from Agrophobia and panic attacks, we have become great friends over the years and he has told me that I am one of the few people he feels comfortable with. Banjo is a walking encyclopeadia on LandRovers.
