Kingoonya pub Gawler Ranges NP worth it ?

Going to travel up to the rock and the great central road in July. Travelling east , west.
Thing of calling into the Gawler Ranges NP and the Kingoonya pub as detours.
Never been to either are they worth it ?.
The reviews look ok but .
    Cheers

    G'day Tony,
Did a trip in 2013 to Mt Ive station, Lake Gairdner, Gawler Ranges then up Goog's track to Kingoonya. It was a very enjoyable trip with a variety of scenery, if you were into geology especially there should be plenty to interest you. Kingoonya, when we were there, was nearly uninhabited, except for the pub which turned on a decent counter tea, and a yet to be refurbished very basic campground which was cheap and at least had hot showers. Not sure I'd bother side tracking just to Kingoonya itself, but the Gawler ranges and Goog's track are worth looking at.
    Good luck on the trip,
    Woolly

Check out Bushie's trip reports from our Edjit trips that did the Gawler Ranges and Googs Tracks. Some good info and photos

I'd check on the pub and make sure it's still open - it was all closed up when we went through in 2012, open again in 2013 - but it might pay to check.

Thanks will do. The web site says it is and has rooms now, as well as camping.
Looks like you blokes had a good trip.
