    Warning Ebay/Gumtree Scam

    Just warning members there's been a few listings on ebay and gumtree in recent weeks - land rover TD5 defender for sale at ridiculously low price($10K) -it's a scam-they will ask you to email seller and then want you deposit money into a dodgy overseas account- hopefully no-one on this forum has been sucked in! It goes without saying -If the deal seems too good to be true be wary!

    Scammers are everywhere especially on Gumtree and even carsales. Never make a payment through international bank transfer.

    Exactly! It was pretty obvious it was a scam when the seller claimed the vehicle was in a sealed container and would be delivered to nominated address by storage company once payment was made- unbelievable! It's amazing ebay/gumtree allow these listings to slip thru.

    I have not fallen for one but have inquired about a vehicle. I give someone the benefit of the doubt. I just tell them I am quite happy to go to the container and look at the car. It's not very often that the prince of Nigeria is selling a low km car held in a shipping container.
