which would be fine except i am looking for something that would be easy for my wife or i to setup outside the van when we pull up somewhere. i was looking for a good travel bbq, i already have everything from cheapy gas stoves to a dual fuel stove but that really doesnt suit the intended use.. sure you can get by with the other stuff, and that is what we currently do but life would be so much more convenient with a hooded bbq on a collapse able stand with a flat plate and grill

they used to be fairly cheap, eg the coleman road trip but now they cost an insane amount of money for what you get and lots of stuff like the road trip are no longer available. there are a few cheapies that would struggle to boil an egg with their btu output tho it has to be said...

i might go down the marine route

with a stand it comes up cheaper than a weber or a j&b without one and it has a flat plate and grill to boot...

just have to talk myself into spending the money honey...

Gas is the go,no good with a wood style cooking stove when you cant use it is summer due to fire bans,national park bans,caravan park bans and local shire bans.
I was surprised to see so many Ziggys and WeberQs when we stayed at Horrocks caravan park.Ron and Aaron loved using mine too.
Dave the hooded type have more uses.I have a pizza stone for it and also an Igrill bluetooth thermometer for doing roasts and smoking meat.Havent had a poor roast yet.Even mess around slow roasting turning the burners off and on,best I have done was a pork rolled roast that took 6 hours to get to the correct internal temp,its was the best pork Ive ever eaten.
Find a friendly member nearby with a Ziggy or Q and invite yourself for a feed.The comparison between the 2 is like engel and waeco so keep that in mind when deciding which one,if you go that way.The Ziggy has a larger dome,and in the mid size its a double burner,whilst the Q is still a single.

The biggest mistake Landrover ever done was going from the steel radiator grill on the series landrovers to plastic grills on the series Three onwards...........can't cook snags on a plastic radiator grill removed from the vehicle over the fire.
Ask any old time farmer who used landrovers.

We have a Weber Q, the one up from the baby Q and we love it.
Probably a tad too big for long distance remote travel, but I am sure the baby would work just as good.

Anyone who can't cook a steak on these is doing it wrong.

When we first got it I didn't like it. It was a case of learning how to use it and now love it.

Tell that to the ex-King Island cattle farmer,,:p

I have a Webber Q which lives in my camper trailer as well

Can't recommend them enough. Great for cooking and has a fold down trolley so fits pretty small.
