"Quality control on clothes"
Shouldn't this be under "Threads that go off topic"?

Heather bought me 2 new pairs of jeans, both 97regs, both the same colour both the same brand and supposedly both the same size.
I pair I try on and fits perfect, try the second identical pair on and I can't do up the button
I have the same problem with shoes, take UK13 in in some and UK 14 in others. I also found that peoples feet must be getting smaller, lot's of ballerina size shoes around but nothing much for the big guys.
My 14 nephew takes 14-15s , hard to get them unless you want to spend big $

Did you eat a slice of cake before trying on the second pair?
But seriously, I've found the same thing at more than one chain of shops, I think sometimes they stitch the wrong tag on the wrong item.
And don't get me started on shoes - I take anywhere between a 9 and 11 depending on who's manufactured them.

My BIL had, until recently, a business that designed clothing in Brisbane and had them manufactured in China. Every year a price and quality was negotiated. His business dealt in good quality, so he had to provide his own QA people, as the manufacturers would cut corners ruthlessly unless you were constantly monitoring the quality. Terms are always payment before dispatch with no refunds or comebacks.
He was once caught with wrong size labelling, too many of one size garment were made. The Chinese solution is simply sew on the labels as per order, regardless of the actual size.
I was once speaking with a woman who imported kids bikes, she had the same problem with colours.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
Find a fair variance in work shirts. A little while ago the missus brought some L size ones that where more like XL. Shirt was not bad but the sleeves where to big in diameter and to long.

I've been buying my pants from a USA company. Everything is made in the US. As I wear a pair out, I buy a new pair the same size/style. Over the years the sizing is always spot on. Good quality gear.
(was fantastic when the dollar was high. Not sure I can afford to buy this year)
I am currently in a PayPal poofight, not naming names , but Lisbon based company with LR logo nice looking gear is massively undersized, I am an XL but their "XL " is about a small at 12-15cm under other uk sized XL pants.
They refused to pay for return postage and now I've paid return ,with 1/2 refunded by PayPal ,the parcel is magically lost in Lisbon? So still arguing over refund! Not happy!
I thought of this thread when I read this yesterday.
Jeans for giraffes
Sometimes their "quality control" can work in your favour.
A while back, I bought a nice looking windcheater down in Perth. Now, I would normally be a good fit into an "XL" or sometimes even a "2XL" (loose fitting, for comfort).
But the one that caught my eye was a perfect fit, and when I checked the label, it stated "Small" - so I bought it. When I got it home, SWMBO reckoned I had changed the label - some people are just never happy to believe what the evidence it telling them.![]()

I guess if you're being paid $1 a day or whatever to make clothes in a Bangladesh slum factory or a Chinese prison then you might find it hard to pay attention long enough to sew the right labels on jeans.
Of course, we could just pay a fair price and get them made right here in Australia by Australian workers who would then spend their wages in Australian shops and so the money would go around and we would all be better off.
