I didn't post earlier my wife's quite bad withdrawal effects that caused the abandonment of her attempt to get off Lyrica but only learnt today that she had gone cold turkey from a 375 mg daily dose. Her doctor has reduced the dose to 300 mg per day as stage 1.

I lasted 2 days on lyrica. I felt withdrawn & "not interested". I have 3 prolapsed discs & have found that daily use of meloxicam (mobic) & osteo visits is the best for myself. Used to get injections but found it didn't last too long. Good luck with it all...sounds like a few out there are feeling your pain.

I was on Lyrica for several years for the treatment Peripheral Neuropathy. Not sure it ever did much and cost a fortune as it was not on the PBS (my Neuropathy is not as a result of Diabetes). Had tried other drugs, Neurontin being one of them, which I did think made me a bit 'fuzzy'.

Strangely I never had side effects, either from use or when I stopped using Lyrica. Maybe that's why I never felt it was doing me any good! Use and side effects is clearly an individual thing - not everyone experiences the same thing.

I was given Tegratol 200mg for nerve pain(my back) I had to stop taking it twice daily as it was making me too drowsy.The doc said just try to use it like my pain killers,when I need it.It seemed to go against what I read on the net about it so I just dont use it.
It actually worked well for pain relief,just made me so sleepy.I believe it too is a epilectic drug that has nerve pain relief side effects.
Can you use the stuff as a pain reliever as needed????

I normally recommend using it regularly.
IMO using it as needed is pointless.
Often the drowsiness goes away if you persist.

I was diagnosed 7 years ago with poly myalgia.. Usual treatment is prednisone. Specialist just said he is not sure what my problem is now. Inflammation factor is now 140. Has been up to 175. I am in limbo until someone sorts out what my problem actually is. Jim

A few weeks back my wife, after trying various others for several months, took a single 25mg lyrica tablet to start building the dose to manage her horrible back pain. About 2am ( some 5 hours later) she had a siezure which she os still traumatised by.
Straight to ED who diagnosed the adverse reaction to the lyrica.
The medical interventions including cortisone injections over the last 6 months have been of little benefit. Now she is of all drugs and working gently withe her remedial massuer/0steopath and getting some relative relief.
Seems it is a drug with widely variable effects.
