Question Travel Times - Currawinya to Bourke

Looking at travelling from Currawinya to Wanaaring - google maps is saying 120kms and 4.5hours

Then looking at travelling form Wanaaring to Bourke - Google maps is saying 190kms and 5hours 10mins.

Has anyone driven these routes? can you confirm travel times?? They seem a bit long... Yes I know they are outback roads but 5hrs to go 190kms? that's like 40km/hr average. I'm not in a big hurry but would just like to have a better idea of travel times.

    Cheers
    Nick

Done Wannaring/Burke many times. The wannaring end is very very corrugated, even so if its dry two and half hours would be a reasonable time.

The Wanaaring road is famous as being one of the worst roads in western NSW. I once bent a tie rod on a Falcon van on it.... Having said that, it should only take 2.5 - 3 hours if the road is dry and not too corrugated. It will have had a reasonable amount of rain over the last week and is currently closed.

    Thanks Tote.

How long do you think it'll take for it to be passable again? Looks like the Hungerford road is closed too

Best bet is to give the council a ring, they're pretty good. Might only be a day or so if just wet, longer if flooded.

Ignore this post... sorry I'm stupid.....

Anyone have any news on the Hungerford to Wanaaring road? Apparently Hungerford road is closed at the border, I rang NP Qld, and they say that the park is open.

    Bulloo Shire Road Report

Hungerford to Wanaaring I'd try ringing either the pub at Wanaaring or Hungerford.
