Holden Racing Team to 888 in 2017.

Now I know a few of you don't like V8 Supercars, so perhaps you may spare me the cynical/sarcastic stuff,...but I doubt it.
Anyway for those of you that are interested, it was announced today that the Walkinshaw Racing Group have lost the naming rights to the Holden Racing Team, which will be run by Roland Dane's 888/Redbull team from 2017, as the "RedBull Holden racing Team".
888 have a three year contract with Holden, who have committed to continue manufacturer involvement in the Series. Holden have requested that 888 will build, design & market the new Gen 2 racecar which will probably have a V6 Turbo engine. Holden Teams will have to buy their Gen 2 Chassis' from 888, so it's a good deal for Roland Dane!

So now we know why he grabbed Giz and did his best to hold onto Loundes.

Where else would Holden put their money?

    Business is business.

Sure, the current HRT was a force, but with their results in the last few years,Holden probably couldn't justify pouring money into their pockets.

Although they are the most followed team in the comp.

Interesting times coming, with the new regs.

I am a blue (and green) oval fan, and although I think it is a good move by the factory, it look like the red monopoly is on the up and up. I wonder how much support the "lesser" red teams will get from GMH.

We lost the mercs, ovlov's have recalled their racecars and Nissan looks like they maybe pulling their support as well. Back to a 2 horse race.

No news from Nissan as yet, but I'd expect something within the month.
Holden will not be putting any "DOLLARS" into any other team, but they'll probably "support" them via parts & media etc.

So I wonder where this leaves Loundes?

Apparently the two Red Bull drivers are the only Factory supported drivers as of next year.

I am sure Holden wouldn't want them sharing information with anyone else.

As for the blue oval,a bit more support from them would be good to help the category.

Craig will be unaffected, 888 run a separate "Team" for him, but they all share their data, & they will all be Holdens,..it's only Jamie's & Shane's cars that will run the "Red Bull Holden Racing Team" Logo.
Ford??!!....well, they have Roger Penske "in their corner", and He doesn't like to lose, so as far as Ford is concerned, look out for him.

A very smart move by Holden. They want competitiveness and depth of competitiveness amongst all in Holdens. Get the top team, support them to support their field. Not convinced by Penski, just lots of their "gunner"
    Cheers
