You or others need to walk past it...
Unless it's within your BT range (~100mtrs).
If what was stolen has a trackR on it, go in and mark it as stolen. You'll then be notified when it's discovered.
Just reading a thread on here.....is it right that you need somebody else to walk by or within range with the TrackR app on their phone which relays the signal to find lost/stolen items.
Or can you track things in real time??
I had my work bag taken out of my work car Friday night.

Probably ok in a high density population city where some maybe running the Trackr application. I figure it would be hopeless in regional areas though (especially given I have hard the Trackr program uses quite a bit of battery power so most people dissable it).

Well mine finally turn up during the week.......nearly gave up as it's the longest overseas delivery I have had to date.
Off to learn how to set them up and put them into use.
bugger, i must have mis-read the website..........i thought two phones could track the one device, actually thought our two phones could both track all 10 tags.
I have one of the gps trackr discs on my dog collar. I have left the disk at home and the trackr app located the position from 80km away. It come off the dog collar once and I found it by using the app. So I am hoping that next time my dog does a runner and has a brain fart I can track him down
cheers

You're misunderstanding the tech..
It's range is ~100 meters in the open down to about ~30 meters indoors.
The App must be running to keep track.. once your phone moves out of range if anyone else running the app walks by your tag it will refresh your items location (the other passerby doesn't know this even happened).
Once you get within the units own transmission range you can then use the app and phone to walk and track it down...
