Yep, about 100,000 Australians are homeless every night, while society ties itself in knots arguing about negative gearing for people who own multiple homes, but ignores those who have nowhere to live.

Interesting in the USA at the moment, many homeless observed here - far more than Aus. Most pitch for cash from passers-by as 'homeless and hungry'. Others ambitions rise only to 'cigarettes and alcohol'. Certainly depressing.

You measure the quality of a society by how it treats its weakest people. Why are we copying the USA?
How many homeless could be housed for the $160 million cost of this pointless same sex marriage plebiscite?

The Plebiscite may seem pointless to you , but I know some in the gay community who are very happy about it,

Depends on which side of the coin you are looking at.

Many of the homeless people used to be housed in facilities which gave them a bed to sleep in, washed and cleaned them and had medical and mental health services for them.

Then we had the Richmond report which said it would be much better to have them in society. That worked out well didn't it.

I know a lot more who aren't happy that they have to go to such lengths so that they can have open discrimination and hurtful things said just so they can have the same rights as everyone else - and all for something that isn't even a commitment to pass legislation. Not even going into the fact we all pay for the privilege.

I recall so.ething about politics not being discussed as a forum rule though hahaha

On the homeless topic, yes it's an absolute shame this is allowed to happen - I think that the money would be well spent helping those that want it, not wasted on those who don't want to affect a change in themselves.

This post is just opening a can of worms isn't it!

Yes, they turfed them out and then ignored them.

There's also plenty in the Gay community that aren't, but I think this needs to be taken to Current Affairs to be discussed properly.
