My parents took their nissan maxima for servicing under warranty period several times. Each time asking for brakes to be checked because of bad squealing. Car was being leased threw salary sacrifice and bill goes to the fleet company. Receipt showed disks machined and new pads. I had a look. All they did was scuff them with sandpaper. My sister had her maxima go to ultratune for a service. Oil change and check fluids. Car overheats a few days later because of lack of coolant in system. I found 2 screwdrivers in her engine compartment once. Also her car broke down because someone hadn't attached the air intake pipe properly after the airflow sensor and it detached and car was erratic for a while before completely shutting down. Tow truck called. Similar thing happened to my parents when nissan dealer mechanic didn't fit something to do with fuel injectors properly. I borrowed the car and broke down half way to my destination. Tow truck called.

A common thread here is supervision. Lots of large workshops have issues with accountability and supervision and that seems to be a problem that needs to be addressed over the whole industry. We stay small (2 of us) so we have lots of control over what goes out. Yes we make mistakes like any human beings and thinking that you are above that is the first stage in impending failure.....
Still need an extra person but thats all.

Reminds me the time my BIL's Triton was serviced and the next day he drove to Coffs and noticed a puddle of oil underneath. Turned out the dealer apprentice had only finger-tightened the sump plug!
